A much familiar name even to non-bongs now. A plethora of selected vegetables cooked with some known as well as unique spices in a creamy milky gravy with slightest hint of sweetness and a core taste of bitterness is much loved by all. Shuktoni as called in Bangladesh or Shukto called in India is a soothing rustic curry which clears your palate perfectly before you dig into countless courses which comprise of a typical Bengali meal. Shukto is actually the result of Portuguese influence from colonization in the pre-British era when the use of milk in a savory vegetable dish was tried.

A creamy, slightly bitter, slightly sweet and a savory dish – a must to try for those who are still unaware of this absolutely brilliant dish.
